People of a certain age who grew up in Kansas City will remember the famous Katz Drugstore chain. ("Katz pays the tax!"). Not only did Katz sell everything from medicine to fishing lures, they sponsored a team in the amateur Ban Johnson Baseball League. The 1961 Kansas City Katz! They were an amateur team in the Ban Johnson League once upon a time. With such a presence in the city, the stores also sponsored a summertime ballclub in Kansas City’s Ban Johnson league that wore an unmistakable navy ballcap with the Katz Drug Store’s striking white cat logo.
